The 2016 AAHA/IAAHPC End-of-Life Care Guidelines provide detailed recommendations for maximizing patient comfort and minimizing suffering while providing a collaborative and supportive partnership with the caregiver client.71 For many clients, as their senior pet develops chronic progressive disease or a terminal illness, the events and veterinary care surrounding their pet’s final life stage are significant.
